BHP has extended its 8-year relationship with leading global crushing contractor CSI Mining Services at the Mount Whaleback operation, awarding a new 5-year contract to design, construct and operate its latest NextGen modular crushing plant at the giant mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
The 5-year contract, extendable by BHP for a further 2 years, is based on 12Mtpa production. The new crusher will replace an existing CSI plant at the mine, 6km west of Newman.
CSI, a subsidiary of miner and mining services company Mineral Resources, has teamed with processing technology supplier Metso Minerals to develop and market the NextGen plant worldwide.
