South African diamond producer BlueRock sees even more improvements ahead after posting record volume sorted, record carats produced and record grade for the Sept qtr (Q3) at its Kareevlei mine in the Kimberley region.
After resuming from a 7-week shutdown in mid-July, Kareevlei’s Q3FY2020 results showed 123,727t sorted, compared to 92,483t in the corresponding period of FY2019, 5,577ct produced (Q3FY2019: 3,973ct) and grade of 4.51cpht (4.3cpht).
Exec chairman Mike Houston says the record performance has been achieved with Kareevlei’s old plant, with the new -plant scheduled to be commission by year-end.
Houston says BlueRock is now confident of meeting its long-term grade guidance of 4-4.6cpht.
