UK-based Central Asia Metals has met increased production guidance at its 100%-owned Kounrad dump leach SX-EW copper recovery project in central Kazakhstan, delivering 13,855t for the 12 months to Dec 2020 - up from 13,771t in FY2019.
After strong performance through the year, CAML lifted its Kounrad forecast to 13,500-14,000t. It’s now predicting a slight decline to 12,500-13,500t in FY2021.
At its wholly owned Sasa project in North Macedonia, CAML overcame a tailings leak that halted production for several days in Sept 2020 to deliver 23,815t zinc in concentrate, up from 23,369t in FY2019 and within its 23,000-25,000t forecast. Lead in concentrate production also improved to 29,742t (29,201t), just missing its 30,000-32,000t guidance.
CAML has kept its Sasa production forecasts the same for FY2021.
