DE BEERS: FATALITY HALTS GAHCHO KUÉ MINE

 

Yellowknife, Sep 4

All non-essential work has been halted at the Gahcho Kué diamond mine in Canada’s NW Territories following the death of a contractor’s employee from injuries sustained in an accident.
JV partners De Beers (51%) and Mountain Province Diamonds (49%) say fellow workers, emergency response and onsite medical team members were unable to save the injured person following the Sept 1 incident at the mine 280km NE of Yellowknife.
Investigations are continuing into the circumstances.
