Australian-based developer E25 has lined up $US30M development funding for its proposed high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate processing facility in the US as part of an offtake agreement with one of the world’s largest automakers, Stellantis NV.
E25 says the world-first upstream investment by a top-tier carmaker in a listed manganese company will see Stellantis take up to 10,000tpa battery-grade HPMSM over five years for its vehicle range that includes Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge and Maserati.
Manganese project developer Element 25 has raised $A35M in a heavily oversubscribed placement that will fund the continued optimisation of its 100%-owned Butcherbird development in Western Australia. The minimum target for the $1.12ps placement was $30M.
E25 says the placement will fund feasibility works on its battery-grade high-purity manganese sulphate project and engineering optimisation.
Australian manganese producer Element 25 has defied the disruptions of unseasonal wet weather on mining and processing operations at its 100%-owned Butcherbird project in WA’s Pilbara region to establish new daily concentrate production record during the Sept qtr (Q1FY23).
E25 credits debottlenecking of the processing plant and improved material handling knowledge lifted Q1 production to 49,839t, from 48,640t in the previous period. Closing stockpiles were 55,055t (Q4FY22: 40,458t).
Australian manganese miner E25 is moving closer to the potential of Sarawak in Malaysia to locate a hydrometallurgical processing plant delivering high-purity battery-grade manganese sulphate monohydrate from manganese oxide concentrates produced at its 100%-owned Butcherbird project in the WA Pilbara.
Global demand for HPMSM to be used in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries is expected to grow rapidly with the boom in EV production.
Growing global awareness of supply chain traceability has led Australian manganese producer E25 to team up with international specialist Circulor to document its achievement of sustainability development goals.
Circulor’s Traceability-as-a-Service technology will document E25's supply chain credentials to downstream customers of its 100%-owned Butcherbird project in the WA Pilbara.
West Australian manganese producer Element 25 will move directly on to a definitive feasibility study on the proposed construction of a high-purity manganese sulphate monohydrate plant to process ore from its Butcherbird project in the Pilbara region.
E25 says its scoping study demonstrated modest start-up capital of $US150M for a 20-year, low operating cost opportunity to expand into downstream processing of ore.
Manganese producer Element 25 has set a new daily production record as its 100%-owned Butcherbird project in Western Australia demonstrates significant performance improvements since completing repairs and modifications to the processing plant triggered by a shaft failure in Nov.
Since production resumed on Dec 23, daily production has averaged a record 934t and peaked at 1,209t on Jan 3. Nameplate target for the Stage 1 production plant is 1,000tpd.
Manganese producer Element 25 is predicting a restart of operations on Dec 19 at its 100%-owned Butcherbird project in Western Australia four weeks after a mechanical failure that disrupted the ramp-up of production.
E25 says replacement OEM parts have been sourced for the failed ore washing shaft, engineering works near complete and installation under way at the southern Pilbara project. The company has made a range of parallel plant modifications to increase operational and maintenance flexibility.
Mechanical failure in an ore washing shaft has halted processing for up to three weeks at new producer Element 25’s 100%-owned Butcherbird manganese project in Western Australia’s southern Pilbara region.
The company has sourced OEM replacement parts from Northern Ireland and is seeking to have them air-freighted, while also pursuing local fabrication options. It’s using the downtime to bring forward scheduled modifications.
New Australian producer Element 25 is focusing on the step up to the next expansion stages of its 100%-owned Butcherbird project in WA’s southern Pilbara region after despatching its second shipment of high quality manganese concentrate to offtake partner OM Materials.
After two Handymax-class shipments of about 27,000t, E25 will move to 55,000-60,000t cargoes to take advantage of more competitive shipping tariffs.
