New 80% owner Firefinch has lifted total measured, indicated and inferred gold resources to 1.49Moz (39.3Mt @ 1.17g/t) as its consulting mining engineers begin mine design and scheduling for the rejuvenation of the Morila project in SW Mali, acquired from Barrick Gold and AngloGold Ashanti for $US29M in Nov 2020.
The new estimate includes 113,000oz (2.5Mt @ 1.38g/t) calculated from existing data at the previously mined N’Tiola, Viper and Domba satellite pits, which are expected to underpin the initial stages of its return to full production from the current reprocessing of stockpiles and tailings.
Infill and extension drilling of the satellite deposits has begun, and it’s also testing the stockpiles to identify additional processing plant feed options.
