Glencore Xstrata has suspended operations at its Ravensworth coal mine in New South Wales, Australia after a 4WD vehicle driver died in a collision with a fully laden haul truck on the opencut mine.
Police and NSW government mines inspectors are investigating the death of the woman driver, described by media as a contractor, late Saturday.
The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Electrical Union says the collision occurred on the Hunter Valley mine’s haul road.
The haul truck driver was treated in hospital for shock.
