South Australian-focused explorer Havilah Resources says a maiden inferred resource of 304Mt iron ore @ 24% Fe at its Grants prospect in the state’s NE underlines its plans to build a regional portfolio of long-life projects near Broken Hill.
Grants contains over 100Mt of premium grade product over 60% Fe with very low impurity elements.
Chairman Dr Bob Johnson says Grants will be a very attractive mining proposition. Havilah’s geological model shows a keel-shaped slab of massive iron ore covering 130ha, outcropping at surface and extending to 180m depth with no overburden and minimal internal waste.
He says Grants appears mineralogically similar to Havilah’s Maldorky deposit, suggesting comparatively simple processing methods.
Logistically, it’s just 8km from Australia’s Transcontinental railway, with electricity and gas infrastructure nearby.
Grants, Maldorky and the early exploration-stage Lilydale prospect feature in Havilah’s aim of a portfolio of projects able to be quickly and cheaply developed.
