KUMBA IRON ORE: CRASH HALTS PORT RAIL FREIGHT

 

Cape Town, Nov 30

South African iron ore producer Kumba faces up to 10 days’ disruption to exports after a traffic accident halted rail freight movements to the iron ore export port at Saldanha Bay.
National freight agency Transnet declared force majeure after a truck carrying an oversize load hit a railway bridge, damaging the bridge structure and railway line.
Transnet is constructing a temporary bridge, which should allow the iron ore export channel to be reopened on Dec 9.
The Anglo American group company still expects to reach the lower end of its 42-44Mt FY2018 total sales guidance.
