South African iron ore producer Kumba faces up to 10 days’ disruption to exports after a traffic accident halted rail freight movements to the iron ore export port at Saldanha Bay.
National freight agency Transnet declared force majeure after a truck carrying an oversize load hit a railway bridge, damaging the bridge structure and railway line.
Transnet is constructing a temporary bridge, which should allow the iron ore export channel to be reopened on Dec 9.
