The water supply issues that lowered June qtr (Q4FY22) production at its advanced materials plant in Malaysia are continuing to impact miner-processor Lynas Rare Earths.
The company says, despite promises the issues would be resolved in August, it now expects water supply will remain unpredictable at least until end-September.
After its NdPr production fell to 1,579t in Q4, down from 1,687t in the previous qtr, it was able to achieve about 800t ready-for-sale production in Jul-Aug. It now expects production for Sept to be lower again.
Despite the Sept qtr disruption, Lynas expects its mitigation strategies will ensure its impact on FY23 will not be material.
