Newcrest Mining has issued hard-rock underground mining specialist Barminco a letter of intent to develop a 3.5km exploration decline at its 70%-owned Red Chris gold-copper project in BC, Canada.
Ground activities are expected to start about mid-2021 on the 1.17Bt resource in the Golden Triangle about 1,700km N of Vancouver. The contract is expected to generate about $A38M over 16 months for Perenti Group company Barminco.
Perenti MD-CEO Mark Norwell says the early stage work at Red Chris builds on Australian-based Barminco’s regional growth capabilities just over a year since commencing in North America.
