Australian miner Panoramic Resources has begun underground development and ore production ahead of schedule at its revived 100%-owned Savannah nickel project in WA’s East Kimberley region with the finalisation of a 4-year, $A280M mining contract with Barminco.
Ore processing is now expected to start in Nov, with first concentrate shipment due in the following month.
Panoramic says the earlier-than-planned delivery of new equipment and seamless recruitment of technical staff and underground operators have enabled Barminco to begin mining prior to the original Aug target.
MD-CEO Victor Rajasooriar says it aims to have 100,000t on surface prior to processing plant start-up, building momentum towards production in favourable commodity markets.
